Jason McAteer 1995 Match Worn Shirt
This shirt was worn by midfielder Jason McAteer in the Euro 96 Qualifying match played against Northern Ireland on
29th March 1995. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
The shirt is a green, home, long-sleeved top and has not been signed. McAteer
swapped his shirt with the Northern Ireland player Kevin Horlock at the final
whistle. I bought the shirt directly from Horlock and it came with a signed letter of
authenticity from Horlock confirming that it is indeed the shirt McAteer wore in that match and that he swapped it with McAteer immediately after the final whistle. The shirt differs from replica shirts because there is no sponsor's logo on the
front: all Ireland replica shirts from 1992 onwards had a sponsor logo written
on the front; shirts without a sponsor logo could not be bought in shops from
this period onwards.
